How old are you now?
In one short week, your baby will be 1 year old! You, however -- thanks to those nights of not sleeping, making each day equivalent to two days -- will technically be two years older. And when you factor in the bionic aging power of babies, this is really 20 years. Which explains a lot, no?
I'm like the anti-Benjamin Button! Sure, I'm 27 now, but in a mere 5-years from now, I'm gonna be pushing 40. Aging this quickly is not conducive to blogging. And I wish there were some way to convey this to Linus, but a sleep-deprived, super-aging mom is not as good of a mom as a non sleep-deprived, aging-like-a-normal-person mom. This is not to say that I'm the only person in the history of parenting to be sleep-deprived. Far from it. We--parents to infants--are ALL not getting enough sleep. It's just part of the deal, and we knew that going into it (and, of course, Linus is way, waaaay worth the effort). But Linus turns one a week from today, and I'm really hoping he's going to grow out of the waking-up-3x-per-night thing. Y'all know I love drama and thrive on pawning myself off as a martyr, but seriously, Bear: I DO NOT WANT TO BE THE MOM WITH THE CHILD WHO DIDN'T SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT UNTIL HE WAS 3.
Thank you.
In other news, everything is going really, really well--and I should've announced it a couple of weeks ago, but Crawl Watch 09 has ended! Linus is a crawling fiend and getting into everything. He opens drawers and cabinets. He pulls himself up on everything and does the whole "cruising" thing, where he walks while holding onto furniture (he cruises back and forth on the table and from the couch to the ottoman and back around). It's intense. He seems pretty pleased with his new-found mobility, and I think that full-fledged walking is just around the corner. He's able to stand unassisted for a good 20-30 seconds until he realizes Oh shit, I'm not holding onto anything! or flaps his arms too hard because he sees the cat and gets really excited, and then he hits the floor. He'll put it all together soon.
This is getting a bit long--especially since I haven't uploaded any new photos, and therefore have no eye candy with which to entice you to keep reading--so I'll take my leave now.
Still to come this week (I swear!): A special guest-blogger, new photos, and The Proof Is in the Puddin': A Video of Linus Crawling.
